Doug Solomon is an active innovation, technology and strategy consultant.
With more than 30 years of leadership experience at the intersection of technology, business and people, Doug has a particular interest in collaborative approaches that enable people to innovate in ways they never before thought possible. He currently focuses his time on the domains of strategy, health and wellness, consumer products and services, technology, and innovation. Doug’s client companies range from leaders in consumer products, healthcare and technology, to small startups and non-profits.
For nearly ten years, Doug was Chief Technology Officer at IDEO and later an IDEO Fellow. IDEO is the world’s premier innovation consulting company. Prior to joining IDEO, he was vice president of investments at Omidyar Network, where he helped pioneer a new approach to socially impactful for-profit investing. He was also senior vice president of corporate development and chief strategy officer at both Apple and Palm, and he held senior leadership positions at a Paul Allen-owned technology incubator, Interval Research, and several technology start-ups.
Doug began his career by applying marketing, new technologies, and other business concepts to health programs in Asia, where he learned the importance of cultural understanding and community engagement in achieving meaningful social impact.
Doug is a volunteer chaplain at Stanford Hospital & Clinics in Northern California. He has three children, four grandchildren and a fabulous wife, who all continually teach him how to be a mensch. He earned a master’s degree in International Public Health from the East-West Center at the University of Hawaii and a Ph.D. in Communication Research from Stanford University.
